In this 3 hour taster-class, I’ll talk to you about different types of silk and briefly show you how I stiffen silk and bond two layers together, as well as making pollen, using the lily of the valley tool, shaping the tips, making a bud, binding the stems and rolling the edges of the leaf.

I will demonstrate and make along with you and help with all the stages – you’ll need to have cut out 20 or so flowers using the template in preparation for the class.

I’ll send you some additions to your kit so that you can make two sprigs of lily of the valley and a leaf:

  • A spool of silk thread
  • Some silk tussah to make pollen
  • An abaca leaf ready to shape
  • 26 gauge wires
  • 2 layers of bonded silk

You will also need:

  • One pair of pointed tweezers
  • Tacky glue
  • A knife or arrow shape flower tool
  • A ball shaped tool 5 or 6mm
  • Straw stiffener
  • A folded flannel / facecloth dampened
  • A frixion pen
  • Water spray
