I have been using these highly concentrated powdered dyes since I was at college. I have chosen 12 colours that will allow you to make most, if not all, the shades and tones you will need for flower-making. They are easy to use whether you use them to dye or paint fabric.
Procion MX dyes are probably the most environmentally sustainable synthetic textile dyes as they contain no heavy metals or toxic substances. When used in the small amounts for flower-making they have a low impact on the environment. The wastewater is easily broken down into harmless molecules by microbes present in soil and at wastewater treatment plants. The chemical used to make the dyes react is soda ash; this is found in laundry detergents and swimming pools and is used in such small amounts that it makes a minimal impact. They are classified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 (an international certification process) as eco-friendly.
